Basketball season starts this week, but it’s never too early to focus on baseball season. UConn announced its 2025 schedule, which includes plenty of high-end trips all over the country in the non-conference.
That starts with a journey off the mainland to Puerto Rico for three games in Caguas as part of the Puerto Rico Challenge to open the season on Feb. 14-16. The Huskies will get games in against Missouri, Penn State and Stetson.
One of two trips to the Sunshine State will follow, as Florida Atlantic welcomes UConn into Boca Raton for three games between February 21-23. The second visit is two weeks later, when the Huskies head to Miami (FL) March 7-9.
In between, Jim Penders’ squad goes to the west coast for the Dodger Classic Feb. 28-March 2. The opener, against USC, will be on the campus of UC Irvine due to renovations at Dedeaux Field, while the finale against Vanderbilt is at Dodger Stadium. UConn will also get a game in against UCLA.
Opening Day at Elliot Ballpark is set for March 11 against LIU, but it’s just one game in Connecticut before heading back out on the road, this time to North Carolina for Spring Break. Series against Campbell (March 14-16) and UNC Greensboro (March 21-23) bookend the trip, which features midweek games against Duke (March 18) and North Carolina (March 19).
From there, Big East play begins. The Huskies will travel to Xavier (March 28-30), Creighton (April 4-6), St. John’s (April 25-27) and Villanova (May 2-4). Georgetown (April 11-13), Seton Hall (April 17-19) and Butler (May 9-11) are coming into Storrs for conference series.
The Huskies only get on the road twice in midweek play, heading to Northeastern (March 26) and Boston College (April 15). The Eagles are in Storrs on March 25, as well.
Other regional foes on the midweek docket include Quinnipiac (April 1), which hasn’t appeared since 2017, Bryant (April 8), Hofstra (April 9), Army (April 23) for the first time since 2005, Rutgers (April 29) and Rhode Island (April 30) for the 198th time. UConn and UMass will also face off in Hartford at Dunkin’ Park on April 22. The Huskies have played there at least once each season since it opened, save for 2021.
The Huskies also have an unconventional non-conference series to end the season, as Northeastern comes to town on May 13 and Maine heads south to Storrs from May 15-17 before the Big East Tournament in Mason, Ohio, runs May 21-24.
