Jackson Marshall brought a big bat to Storrs

The 6-foot-8 Southern New Hampshire transfer has had a huge impact in the Husky lineup.

If you’ve attended a game at Elliot Ballpark this season, Husky first baseman Jackson Marshall must have caught your eye. Even if you don’t notice him towering over the others on the field, the sound the ball makes off his bat should be enough to get your attention.

In his first season as a Husky, the sophomore leads the team in home runs (10) and doubles (12). He’s started all but one of the Huskies’ first 36 games coming into the Butler series, typically batting out of the cleanup spot.

However, before Marshall could become the Huskies’ premier power hitter, there was the matter of getting him into a UConn uniform.

“I was actually going to visit Florida Gulf Coast two days after UConn,” Marshall said after the final game of UConn’s series against Creighton.
